Hyaluronidase / Mucopolysaccharidase

Hyaluronidase and Mucopolysaccharidase is widely distributed in animal tissues.  By catalyzing the hydrolysis of hyaluronic acid, a major constituent of the interstitial barrier, hyaluronidase lowers the viscosity of hyaluronic acid, thereby increasing tissue permeability. It is, therefore, used in medicine in conjunction with other drugs to speed their dispersion and delivery.

We extract Hyaluronidase and Mucopolysaccharidase from either bovine or ovine testes using multiple precipitation, fractionation, and filtration steps. The process from extraction of testes to final product takes approximately 3-6 weeks, with kilogram quanities of Hyaluronidase and Mucopolysaccharidase being produced from one tonne of testes.
