Deoxyribonuclease
BBI Enzymes is a leading producer of Deoxyribonuclease I (DNase). DNase is used in molecular biology. In the pharmaceutical industry Dnase with Fibrinolysin is used to treat exudative lesions, formulated in ointment dosages.
DNase I has also been used as a treatment for cystic fibrosis. DNase decreases the viscosity of cystic fibrosis sputum, transforming it from a gel into a liquid after incubation, and this viscosity reduction is accompanied by a reduction in sputum DNA strand size.
DNase is extracted from bovine pancreas then purified using multiple precipitation, fractionation, chromatography, and filtration steps. The process from pancreas to final product takes approximately 3 weeks, typically resulting in a few grams of highly purified freeze-dried enzyme being produced from one tonne of pancreas.
Our procedures, that have been developed and optimised over many years, ensure a product of the highest quality, stability and batch-to-batch consistency.
