Seravac Laboratories (pty) founded and commenced the isolation of biochemicals in Cape Town.

1960

Seravac opens production and marketing offices in Maidenhead, England.

1969

Professor Chris Barnard officially opens Seravac’s new custom built factory in Cape Town

Miles Laboratories inc. Acquires 50% shareholding in Seravac and the company name changed to Miles-Sera vac Laboratories.

1971

Biozyme Laboratories Ltd was founded by Mr Rashid Domingo in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.

1972

Miles Laboratories inc. acquires total ownership and the company name changed to Miles Laboratories (pty) Ltd. Facilities at Maidenhead, UK closed.

1974

Biozyme Laboratories Ltd re-located to Blaenavon, South Wales as a larger facility was needed.

1978

Bayer AG acquired Miles Laboratories inc. and South African based company changes name to Bayer-Miles (pty) Ltd.

1983

Bayer - Miles decide to divest themselves of the enzyme manufacturing segment.

1984

Enzyme manufacturing segment of Bayer-Miles is acquired by the South African Druggist Group and begins trading as Seravac.

1987

Seravac receives the following awards: Cape Employer’s Association (CEA) award for Productivity Achievement, State President Award for Export Achievement in the manufacturing sector. National Productivity Institute Productivity Award for the Western Cape Region.

Building expansion completed and the new Peroxidase manufacturing facility’s commissioned.

Biozyme Laboratories is acquired by Enviromed Plc.

2000

Enviromed changes name to Theratase Plc.

2004

Theratase Plc acquires Seravac Biotec.

2007

BBI Holdings Plc acquires Theratase Plc (Biozyme Laboratories and Seravac Biotec).

IMI acquires BBI Holdings Plc.

Major investment begins in South Africa.

Biozyme Laboratories and Seravac Biotec re-launch as BBI Enzymes.
